Chris Cummiskey, Senior Advisor

Chris Cummiskey is a senior consultant with CGA and is Chief Executive Officer of his own firm, Cummiskey Strategic Solutions, LLC which specializes in cyber/IT, homeland security and management consulting. Mr. Cummiskey has 24 years of government experience in senior positions at both the Federal and state levels. He is recognized for his strong leadership, management and communication skills and has a proven record of success in delivering results.

Mr. Cummiskey served in executive management at the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the last six years, most recently in the number three position at the department as Acting Under Secretary for Management. During his tenure, he had department-wide oversight and responsibility for budget/finance, cyber/IT, procurement/contracting, human capital, security and administration. He served as the department's Chief Acquisition Officer overseeing $19 Billion in annual spending and as the DHS Performance Improvement Officer.

While at DHS, Mr. Cummiskey also co-led all of the major cyber committees at DHS including the Executive Steering Committee on the National Cybersecurity Protection System (Einstein), the Executive Steering Committee on Cyber Strategy, the Acquisition Review Board on government-wide Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) and the Executive Steering Committee on Cyber Hiring. He also served on the oversight committee on the implementation of President Obama's Executive Order on Cybersecurity.

Mr. Cummiskey was recently selected as a Senior Fellow with the George Washington University - Center for Cyber and Homeland Security. He also serves on numerous boards including the Partnership for Public Service, the Government Technology & Services Coalition and the Washington Homeland Security Roundtable.

Mr. Cummiskey is a nationally recognized leader in technology, innovation and cybersecurity. He served as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Arizona where he received the Distinguished Service to State Government award from the National Governor’s Association for his work in government innovation. He is credited with creating the state's first cybersecurity plan and establishing the Arizona Cyber Information Security Office.

Prior to serving as the Arizona State CIO and Director of the Arizona Government Information Technology Agency, Cummiskey was elected to six terms in the Arizona State Legislature. As a state senator, he held numerous leadership positions and was credited with developing technology solutions to improve government service delivery.

Mr. Cummiskey resides in Washington DC with his wife and their three children.
