CGA Vice President Nate Snyder Appointed by President Biden to Serve at U.S. Department of Homeland Security

May 19, 2021 (Washington, DC) – Today, Cambridge Global Advisors (CGA) was honored to announce that Nate Snyder, Executive Vice President of the firm, was appointed by President Biden to serve as Senior Policy Advisor for Counterterrorism & Threat Prevention in the Office of Strategy, Policy and Plans at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The federal appointment is Mr. Snyder’s second, having previously served in multiple counterterrorism roles during the Obama Administration.

Nate’s four-year tenure at CGA was marked by the expansion of work with a variety of Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, and federal government entities on a host of high-profile national security and defense issues, including combatting domestic terrorism, cybersecurity, election security and 5G mobile network security. In addition to his client work, Nate was also one of CGA’s biggest media commentary contributors, advocating for the aforementioned topics though numerous print, radio, and television appearances.

Of the departure, CGA Chairman and Founding Partner, Christopher Burnham said, “Nate is a well-known and seasoned leader in the national security arena. Whether it be through his leadership on client projects here at CGA or his past experience at DHS, Nate is emerging as an unparalleled voice and expert on terrorism threat prevention in the U.S. and abroad. We are certain he will carry on at DHS with the same level of results and impact as he has with CGA.”

“In all things, Nate has worked to elevate and forward solutions – in technology, cybersecurity, and community engagement – aimed to keep Americans safe,” commented Douglas Lute, CGA CEO. “As a recognized Next Generation Latino leader, he’s also personally contributed to a larger discussion around diversity in National Security, certainly a benefit to all of our efforts at CGA.”

During his previous DHS appointment, Nate focused on developing DHS’s partnerships with domestic and international law enforcement, state and local officials, tech-sector industry, foundations and community organizations around the country to develop counterterrorism solutions. He also provided support as an early and key contributor to the Obama Administration’s first-ever Strategic Implementation Plan to Empower Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States.

Beyond his government experience, Nate has been active in progressive politics. He has served as a campaign advisor and staff to multiple political campaigns, including Presidents Biden and Obama, and the 2004 Presidential nominee, John Kerry.
