CGA Teams with USAID to Deliver Cybersecurity Assessments in Guatemala

May 19, 2021 (Washington, DC) – Recently, Cambridge Global Advisors (CGA) announced the successful completion of a project to strengthen the cybersecurity postures and practices of local implementing partners in Guatemala. The seven-month project was executed in tandem with PM Consulting Group, under a contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Global Development Labs.

The effort was the first of three opportunities to work with USAID and its global partners. CGA’s strategy in Guatemala built upon the firm’s years of cyber work in Latin America and involved assessing, identifying, and mapping out how implementing partners in Guatemala can elevate their security posture in the short and long term. From there, CGA developed vulnerability and mitigation plans that will not only improve the immediate cybersecurity of the programs involved in the assessment, but will also offer best practices for Guatemalan and other regional stakeholders.

As partners in this project, the CGA team worked closely with PM Consulting Group and SISAP, a local cybersecurity company headquartered in Guatemala with locations in seven Central American countries. The project consisted of two phases, during which CGA provided training, technical interviews, as well as vulnerability assessments and scans.

The CGA team conducted cyber risk analysis that relied on detailed network assessments as well as comprehensive interviews with the technical teams. By marrying technical assessments with human interviews, CGA was able to produce customized final reports for each organization, which included recommendations to improve the cybersecurity posture of each implementing partner.

The Digital APEX USAID program aims to strengthen organizations' cyber and technology programs. A strong cyber and technology infrastructure has the power to spur economic growth, improve development outcomes, and lift millions out of poverty. CGA, PM Consulting Group, SISAP, and the implementing partners are delighted at the productive results of this program. Conducting such assessments is essential in a time when there is so much risk in the world.
